After delivering a late calendar to a young admirer near Warter, for the pictures you understand, I drove towards Huggate and spotted these golden fields. I also spotted the hawthorn, some in flower but mostly, at this altitude, in bud. Cow parsley and crosswort light up the verges and dead nettle is flowering, a demure but very attractive little plant. As I was finishing several 4x4s drove past, as if in convoy, heading for a meal perhaps after a charity shoot. Not sure the charity shoot was today but I saw signs as I drove through Warter, guess it could have been yesterday. This view is the first 12x10 inch I have done for a while so it was good to try the pochade box again. George lay on his bed after a short walk along grassy paths, necessary to protect his paws at the moment. I wanted to capture the transient nature of the oilseed rape and also the hawthorn. The cow parsley was a bonus. Hope you like it.
