I painted this print some time ago and was asked for a print. So this is it, hot off the press, just arrived from my printers. It is printed onto A3 sized paper, though the side margins are wider then usual due to the proportions of the painting being 12 x 10 on the original. I loved this painting at the time, and seeing it now takes me back there. I remember the little group of five deer in the field who were keeping an eye on the tractor over the hedge as it worked up and down the field. But most of all I remember the poignant reminder of the futility of war as witnessed by the RAAF memorial stone laced amongst daffodils at the bottom of the valley. It stands opposite the white scar alongside the road. I always stop and read the names and think about their parents and relations far away in Australia and would like them to know that they are not forgotten. It is amazing to see that some survived.
