Burdale pond and stables.
12 x 10 inchOil on canvas
£150
After some wonderful messages from a dear friend I set off, still Covid 19 anxious, but in a much better place. I explored once familiar places and walked around Painsthorpe Dale where I saw the precipitous head of the valley, and made a mental note to return and attempt a painting. I realised that, being here I was not far from Thixendale and decided to drive on to Burdale. The pond which I had painted a couple of days ago still intrigued me. I set up the pochade box nearer to the pond and lower down. I started to paint and stopped to talk to a lovely man from Malton. It is all very strange, we chatted quite normally about things but always maintained at least 3 metres, self distancing.
( A note for him, I used Winsor and Newton, Artisan oil paints which are water soluable )
I carried on painting and then a man approached and recognised me. Phil D, who is a keen photographer follows my blog and it was such a delight to meet him. So, Phil, here is the finished picture, I hope you like it.
Progressing a little more, a vehicle stopped and a neighbouring farmer chatted about how he remembered my pal Hockney painting three trees not far away. I always like to talk to people when painting, and share experiences, all at a safe distance !!!
I like the way this turned out with a little different emphasis to my previous painting. In fact, as the scene changes into autumn I may well paint it again.
Hope you like it.
Happy painting.
