Like the Loaningdale trees I aim to visit and paint this view all year. I will return in the spring having already painted a summer view last year. Below are some of the stages in completing this painting. It was all done at the site. I stood on a grass verge in the shade of the trees. It was very cold and local ponds were covered in ice. To keep warm I wore a thermal suit, padded dungarees and jacket making me immune to the cold. Fortunately there was no wind which meant my fingers kept warm.
