Harvesting below at Thixendale, Yorkshire Wolds. ( SOLD )

Thixendale

A busy day, this is the first of two paintings, experimenting with a portrait layout using an adapted pochade box easel. The industrious noise, at first, invisible, echoed around the valley below. Then I spotted the combine hurriedly working away taking advantage of the dry weather to get the harvest done before the weather made the moisture content get too high. It is a pressure pot time of year for the farmers who must be ready to spring into action at short notice. This is a view from one of my favourite spots, a short walk from the 'Gill's Road' which drops down to Thixendale. The changing seasons colouring the view, an organic link with the seasons.

14x10 inch, oil on canvas board, available here ( when fully dry and varnished )

Now SOLD

My Book of sketches showing double page spreads of views front the Yorkshire Wolds.
