Met a local farmer who was about to shear some sheep. He was actually from the farm complex below and we had a short chat about mutual acquaintances. I was due to rendezvous at the Merlin Garage with FSD and was early, hence this painting. I like the dark spire of St Mary’s Church which just broke the horizon seemingly reaching for divine inspiration. I am standing at the edge of a field of wheat. The early morning sun bleaching the colour from it near the farm buildings. The road disappearing on the left is the access to Northfield Lodge where excellent accommodation is available providing a base to explore the area, in particular, the Wolds. In the foreground hogwarts are taking over from Cow Parsley, their stalks vary in colour from light green to deep ruby. Their florets also vary from cream to ones having a reddish flush. I looked at the time and realised I needed to be off and headed to see Johnny at Merlin. We talked briefly before FSD arrived....announcing her birthday, many many happy returns. Then back to Beverley via the Keasy footpath where we walked two dogs.
Available to reserve here, when dried and varnished.
