Popped over to Burdale with the intention of sketching these sycamore trees before the leaves develop. I parked in the spot where DH had painted them and got my sketchbook out. I have also painted these trees before, in summer, it is good to see the changes but also, I realise more and more, how important it is to record trees in situ before they are gone. Ash dieback is a very serious threat as many of the roads are lined with ash. The landscape will change so much without them. Some farmers have planted beech to replace the ash, though I am not sure if this is wise as global warming develops and temperatures rise...but hey ho.. Elsewhere, oak still seems to be growing well especially in East Yorkshire, where the hedges are much enhanced by their presence. This is a pen and ink sketch with a little watered down ink.
Met a Prince and his servant from Fimber, having moved here from Cornwall, he is thoroughly enjoying the countryside and taking long walks. If you are reading this I hope you like the picture and my blog.
Hope you like it.

Another project, my illustrated sketchbook is developing into a more comprehensive work, including lots of original work. I may redesign it and go back to my original notion to create smaller books specifically focussed on sketching. Anyway...we will see.
