I traveled to Bailey Dale after previously visiting to ascertain the viability of using two canvases, each 3 feet by two feet. The sheep have not been let out yet and so I could take my four legged companion with me. I had to make four trips backwards and forwards in order to transport the two French easels and the table, as well as George's dog bed. I hope you enjoy seeing the way I worked especially as I used a very limited palette. As I painted an inquisitive stoat traversed the ground in front of me. It stopped, looked and then explored the hedge bottoms, running along the ground. A male pheasant kept an eye on him as he moved. Probably a good match for each other though I suspect the stoat would emerge victorious. This is quite extreme en plein air painting, I usually work smaller at just 12x10 inch. Though I do like the freedom a larger canvas provides and am reminded of something David Hockney said about painting so big means you use you body as opposed to the hand.
Video here showing me working.
