This day is always special as I remember people no longer with us. Not a day for plein air painting as the drizzle remained persistent most of the day. Nevertheless a gap between showers allowed me to get out and sketch this view. The tall spire of Warter Church can just be seen and the rolling fields are already showing signs of successive crops coming through. The farmers work so hard to get the fields drilled before the worst of the weather. Indeed, as I sketched, two enormous vehicles squeezed past my parked car, having just worked a nearby field, they were returning to the Farberry Garth Farm. I looked and gestered to ask if they had enough room to pass, they cheerfully indicated they could manage and passed by without a problem. The wet road, now a dark slimy exclamation, was soon cleaned up as one of the drivers returned with a road sweeper, amazing. I soon had to stop sketching as rain began to fall, but not before some partridge and a lone pheasant posed to be included. Ipad sketch.
Calendars and this picture as an A3 print now available via my online shop.
