Lovely day to paint, still and hot for a September day. I started a large plein nair canvas on the top of the hill but soon realised it would be too hot for my trusty companion and decided drop down into the valley and paint this scene with a newly trimmed field which carried messages of recent movement. The hawthorn on the hillside was now resplendent with cascades of red jewels awaiting the arrival of the Fieldfare propagators maybe.
12x10 inch oil on canvas.
