Whoooaa.... this is an old one.
An early sketch on some old tinted paper showing the bridge on Clough Road, Hull ( Stoneferry is an area nearby and the bridge was also known as Stoneferry Bridge and Ferry Bridge ). At this time the River was being used a lot, though this point was as far as the larger vessels would reach. Behind me is the Rix petroleum depot. Large ships managed to get here as well as the Rix barges. The man reading his paper could well be from the Rix depot. Of course the bridge has long gone, replaced by a modern angular design. I have another study of this bridge which shows the intricate rail detailing.

In the background is the tall edifice of a paint factory, not sure but think Blundell's. Later renamed when sold on. Just found these images of an old tin which confirms the name.
