5th October 2021
The weather was changing and though some fields still contained bales ready to be stored, most have now been tilled and sown. Evidence of winter crops, flushed fresh ferted green illuminate fields which only a short time ago contained cereals pointing to the urgency of the farming year. On a damp day I stopped at Etton. For the first time I thought I would try painting from inside the car which was very limiting. The painting progressed and I used a very limited palette partly due to the confines of being in the car. Two vans parked on the road leaving space for others to pass, cowled dog walkers along the paths, heads down, trying to avoid the rain. I like the house on the corner, which is for sale. Remnants of roses fight on indicating a well loved garden. Though a grey, dull day I felt happy to have been able to paint and I like this record of the buildings.
