This is loosely done on watercolour paper 300gsm, so it did not need stretching. This is another, older watercolour sketch ( 2008) showing Castle Howard from the road, on the west of the house leading to Slingsby and on to Hovingham. I spotted this view and was impressed at seeing the house emerging from, and dominating the landscape. The lake in the foreground is well populated with coots and other waterfowl. This is an original watercolour which captures the view coming out of winter with spring optimism to look forward to.
