This is one of a series of wide concertina sketches I hope to do over August. I am finding this little project fascinating. The sketch is made firstly using a pen then watercolour wash is added. I add the watercolour at the venue mostly though sometimes I need to finesse them at home. I now appreciate that the ‘eye’ sees much more than the usual proportions of a painting. The eye is more aware of peripheral vision than I thought. With these sketches the eye sees everything as it would at the site. More questions regarding perspective are worth exploring I think but that will be another time. My notion is to produce a book of these views in the form of a sketchbook itself. Keep visiting for more on this.
