Quiet road near South Dalton a pen and ink wash.

 ONLINE STORE

It was raining when I set off to walk George. Heading for his favourite walk near the alligator pond, a last minute diversion, due to emergency services blocked the way meaning a detour to the quiet lane south of the village. There are two huge trees, one of which has recently lost a major limb, both are adjacent to a parking area. I walked George, in the rain and we returned to the car where I got out my concertina sketchbook. It was still raining, how could I sketch anything. I opened my sketchbook to 4 pages wide, with strong clips I fastened it to my purpose made board. Then, I sat under the tailgate and began to sketch using a drawing pen. The rain intensified and hit the sketchbook. This stopped the pen from working so I tried to retreat further back into the car where the rain could not reach. This worked a little better. The I collected some rainwater from a puddle and began to add colour. It was all a struggle and I have not detailed the sketch as I normally would. Saw two couples, one with a lovely dog out for a walk who had arrived from nearby Cherry Burton. Another couple came, parked nearby and set off, one walking, one cycling. Before they set off we talked about various things including black and white photography.
