Sledmere hidden path

This is a 14 x 10 inch oil on canvas board.

It shows a less visited area of the grounds, just outside the inner walled garden. I was struck by the light and shadows on the path which lead the eye to the amazing Wellingtonia. A winding grass path meanders through the longer grass allowing visitors to see daffodils close up. Earlier snakes head fritillary were in flower. Apple blossom and a flowering magnolia complete the scene. This was the second painting of the day and I was very pleased to see FSD and her visitors again. Refreshments were produced as I painted which were delicious.
