This was one of a series of half imperial (15x22”) watercolour paintings done about twenty years ago. This is an original painting showing the first tee. Black Mill can be seen on the left and at this time both the poplar trees were standing, one having been destroyed by high winds since. The wonderful church of St. Mary’s which has links with Cromwell can be seen down in the town. I do not recall the golf shot, a chip onto the first tee, though someone, even now may recall sartorial exponent.
