4th January 2023..The wind was strong as I set out to look for a subject to sketch. I traveled to Middleton on the Wolds and turned into Warter Lane. The road is really single track and undulates following the contours of the land. Huge fields contained white markers suggesting a shoot reminding me of how close I was to Warter, which is a centre for shooting. A less well known fact is that they raise thousands of pounds for charity and, of course, employ many local people. I stopped just short of the 'T' junction where David Hockney painted his 'Bigger trees at Warter' and I saw this little compostion. It features Shiptondale Farm, nestled in a little fold with a band of protective conifers at one side. I used my iPad to sketch the scene, hope you like it...and spot the goldfinch.
