A local wood, painted previously as a triptych, here I wanted to try and paint it as a much larger work. So a combination of many trips back and forth, with a sketchbook and also using my original plein air painting for reference I have produced this larger painting on several canvases. Here are two panels, each is 30 inches wide by 72 inches tall. Another three panels make up the painting. I like it. You can almost imagine you are there and 'feel' the trees presence. The massiveness, the tallness the quiet atmosphere of continuity. This special painting will need a big room to be displayed in. I hope to enter it for an exhibition where it could be seen in its entirety so I will keep you posted.
Don't forget your calendar for next year, which includes paintings from a year of painting, featuring the YORKSHIRE WOLDS and more from East Yorkshire. SEE THE ONLINE SHOP ABOVE.
