I am on Rootas Lane, the ancient boundary twixt Cherry Burton and Etton. At the top of this quiet lane, on a bend, there is a tiny copse. On the ground, tentative dark green leaves are emerging, a hint of spring perhaps, they could be snow drops or maybe bluebells. From the far side of the copse, and immediately in front of me, the fence is designed to be jumped over, a huge rounded pole is laid on top of the fence, which protects against being caught on the barbed wire. Below, not far from the church, dogs barked announcing the proximity of the Holderness Hunt Kennels. Occasionally people appeared walking the footpath from near the kennels, and would either turn back or continue onto the nearby lane. I set up a large 36 x 24 inch canvas, a table, jug of brushes and most importantly George's bed. It is around noon, I quickly lay out the picture and begin blocking in. Again, I am using just three colours, blue, yellow, red plus a tube of white. The brushes I have brought along are the long handled 'Rosemary's' which hold plenty of paint. Apart from hearing crows cawing nearby all was quiet. A robin visited and said hello, a bluetit investigated some branches looking for food and then a young couple walking Elsie? came over and we briefly chatted.
Calendars still available, this, and more original paintings, prints etc.....at my ONLINE SHOP
