Verging flowers!!.... near Etton West Wood, East Yorkshire.

May 21st. 2022.

Warter Road disappears to join the road to Kiplingcoates, this spot is near two benches close to the path which leads alongside West Wood, eventually to Low Gardham.. The verges here are particularly rich in fauna. Today campion, cow parsley, buttercups and plantain were plentiful. Later wild campanula can be seen as well as speedwell, borage and others. This view is always interesting to paint, to see the road dip and turn and disappear together with the varying verge plants makes a visit to be always rewarding. Occasionally cyclists would pass and say hello 'en passant' as it were,  farmers wave from cocooned cabs as they hurry along to dress fields nearby. I took my recently acquired, ancient wooden folding chair, painted a distressed red with 'KH' scribed on the side. I would like to think it meant Kilham Village Hall, which has associations....but who knows? I bought a pair of these chairs, which are nicely 'distressed' painted in their maroonish red paint. They call for some cleaning up and a little fixing, but they seem sturdy enough and have a certain charm. If you see me painting please come over and try one. A short detour to P+G for a Covid safe coffee completed the day.

Plein air 12x10 inch, oil on canvas.Sold.

Just a reminder that my virtual exhibition, at the moment is
