I love the work of Laurence Sterne, such an original thinker. Here is a view from the rear garden which shows a small corner of the house.

Walking along North Bar Within recently, the path strewn with fresh conker husks I should have been prepared. I entered the shadowed light and a slight silent breeze tickled the trees. Then, showers of conkers still in their husks fell, and people covered their heads. Parked cars became an orchestra of drums, making people start.
North Bar Within, October.
Walking along the shaded flags,
Heading for North Bar, green leaves are turning yellow, rustling rust.
Autumn advances,
On a still,
Dry,
Sunny day,
Feint breezes are enough to
Release horse chestnuts, and from branches high above
They thud
On roofs and bonnets, leaving
Exposed conkers and discarded,
Spiky shells,
From ebony to light tan, the
Chestnuts litter the path
For young and old to collect.
Two women pass, talking,
"They deter spiders, you know".
