A lovely summer evening near South Dalton. This is a simple composition, a field of wheat (?) with the tops of trees just visible in the distance was made more interesting by the sudden appearance of a rainbow. It seemed to emerge and fade away quickly leaving the slightest trace especially at the base of the arc. A yellowhammer sang somewhere to my right, no doubt in a hedgerow and I could hear distant traffic. Suddenly a call, a mewing of a bird of prey caused me to glance a red kite - it approached the tree on the left and landed on it out of sight. Always a wonderful sight. H a p p y P a i n t i n g.
