Plein air - Field off Long Lane, Beverley

A field off Long Lane , Beverley using Pochade box oil on 12 x 10 canvas board

The day started with grey skies, although warm for winter developing afternoon to be quite a  sunny day. I wanted to  paint a particular tree, which I had seen a couple of days ago, however access to the area was not possible and so I back tracked to the field above. The farmer was nearby and I asked permission to paint. He was very encouraging and suggested I keep clear of the mud and that the edge of the field was much better underfoot. He was checking drainage pipes and had a spade to dig channels to encourage the water logged field to drain away.
