Castle Howard, Yorkshire.

Castle Howard, Yorkshire large watercolour sketch 22 x 15" approx.
It is still dull here in Beverley, grey skies, cool and raining .... aaaargh! Thus preventing any outside art work. So I wanted to post this picture. It is loosely done on watercolour paper 300gsm and so did not need stretching. This is another, older watercolour sketch ( 2008) showing Castle Howard from the road, on the west of the house leading to Slingsby and on to Hovingham. I spotted this view and was impressed at seeing the house emerging from, and dominating the landscape. The lake in the foreground is well populated with coots and other waterfowl.
Happy Painting
