David Hockney’s Thixendale sycamores.

I stopped at Burdale, near the pond with hawthorn blossomed trees cascading down the hillside. In the distance I could see the sycamores my friend David Hockney painted. I remember how a local man took umbrage saying they were Burdale sycamores, not Thixendale sycamores. Here, I wanted to get a sense of the season with the blossom covered hawthorn on the hillside. The pond was barely visible and a small pony has now appeared at the stable after it had been empty for a time. Four page wide concertina sketchbook painting.
