Tree at edge of field near South Dalton, East Yorkshire.Plein air oil on board

Plein air oil on board 12 x 10"

Today was to be the last day before the weather broke and so off we went for a drive. We stopped at the Pipe and Glass inn at South Dalton for coffee sitting outside with others who had cycled there. Driving off after coffee we spotted this tree at the edge of a field. The long lower branch seemed to frame the distant trees perfectly.  Many of the wild flowers are passing over now with the odd hemlock going to seed and the willow herb dying back. Tansy can be seen here and there, indeed some rogue plants could be seen in the field of barley. Few birds were seen as we were surrounded by well treated crops, though earlier many swifts were seen in nearby Beverley.
