View of Beverley Minster from the south

Plein air oil sketch of Beverley Minster, oil on canvas 12 x 9

I love this view, especially at the moment with the bales of straw. I wanted to try and capture the scene as it was a lovely sunny evening. As I painted people would pass nearby walking their dogs on the footpath at the edge of the field. Swallows passed overhead feeding on insects and preparing to leave us for the winter. It will be sad to see them go, I already miss the swifts which left us mid August.
